Once we entered Death Valley the outdoor temperature rose quickly to around 40 degrees Celsius. In this heat we explored the bright yellow and hot Mesquite Flat Dunes.
We drove for around 45 minutes to the lowest point of the valley and consequently the Western Hemisphere: The huge salt lake Badwater Basin.
On our way to Zabriskie Point we passed the Devils Golf Course and the colorful mineral deposits of Artists Drive.
From the beautiful views of Death Valley we drove back to our motel in Beatty on a lengthy and very long straight highway with some peculiar sights.
Time for a burger and beer!
Tomorrow we head out to Mojave National Preserve and our motel at Route 66.
