Today we visited the concentration and death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Auschwitz concentration camp was a complex of concentration and extermination camps operated by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland during World War II and the Holocaust.
It's hard to describe what kind of impact walking in Auschwitz has. You know the history, have seen the movies but being there in person is something else..
We had the guided tour and visited both Auschwitz I (above) and Auschwitz-Birkenau (below). The later being the huge extermination camp with the characteristic train gate.
After the impressive and heavy visit to Auschwitz we headed to the train station to catch the local train to our final destination, the city of Katowice.
After arriving in our hotel we explore a little bit of the city in search of some nice Japanese food. Tonight on the menu: Miso Soup, Japanese Curry with Tonkatsu and Black Sesame Ice Cream!
Tomorrow we will visit the smaller theme park of Legendia and explore more of Katowice!
