We explored the town of Rio Lagartos, which lives of fishery and tourism, around lunch time. Time for Lianne to try a delicious fish soup.
Apparently Father's Day is quite an event in Rio Lagartos, the whole town is one big party with a parade, fireworks and lots of beers.
We drove to a salt factory in the nearby town of Los Colorados which is famous for its pink lakes. Tourists are only allowed to enter the premises with a guide and we were lucky enough to find a guide with a deconstructed motorcycle sidecar that drove us around.
The red algae, shrimps and plankton cause the water and the flamingos, that we also spotted, to color pink.
As a sneak preview for tomorrow, we shortly visited a beach on our way back to Rio Lagartos.
Onno started to feel a little better during the afternoon, so we decided to have some great grilled fish for dinner.
Tomorrow, we will drive via some countryside roads to Chiquilá, from where we will catch the ferry to Isla Holbox: our final destination of our Mexico trip!
