We got up early today to visit Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, before the crowds did. The most well known structure of this site is a large square pyramid: El Castillo.
We got up early today to visit Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, before the crowds did. The most well known structure of this site is a large square pyramid: El Castillo.
There are also other remains visible, including buildings with many pillars that used to supported a roof to shelter several markets.
We headed back to Valladolid for lunch and to check out some of the town.
In the afternoon, we cooled off in the cenote Zaci which is half open and located in the middle of the city. Next to the humans, there were hunderds of small and large fish swimming in the cold fresh water.
Time to grab some delicious Antojitos with a Margarita and call it a day.
We will drive to the small town Rio Lagartos tomorrow. This town is located next to a nature reserve home to many birds, including flamingos.
