We left Lovran and headed to the other side of the bay to the city of Rijeka today. Rijeka is the largest city in the area and, although not very touristy, houses some nice sights.
We conquered the 561 step Petar Kružić staircase to Trsat, where we were rewarded by a church visited by John Paul II, a castle and a spectacular view over the city and the bay.
Time to head down back to the city center!
After a quick lunch on the go, we headed towards our hotel near Plitvice Lakes National Park. We decided to stop at a little beach in Senj to cool down.
The drive through the Croatian mountains and countryside was beautiful. We cannot wait to visit the Plitvice Lakes tomorrow..
