Day 19

Mount Bromo

It was midnight and we took to the road in a large Toyota Landcruiser to visit Indonesia's most active volcano aka Mount Bromo. After a three hour journey we arrived at the top of one of the surrounding mountains to see the volcano during the upcoming sunrise. It was pretty much freezing at 2750 metres and we had to wait for at least 2,5 hours to see the sunrise in all it's glory.. however it was definitly worth it.

We also visited the Tengger Sand Sea and of course an active caldera. After that we explored the Savannah and the Madakaripura Waterfall. All within the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

Tomorrow we discover the beautiful Sempu Island located about three hours from our HQ in Malang..
